Jenerik — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
In short: Jenerik has no accounts, no sign-up, and collects no personal information. Your list, your watched episodes and your taste profile stay on your own phone; none of it is sent to us. The one piece of text that leaves your phone is the sentence you type into the "AI search" box: we send it to a decision model so it can be interpreted, but nothing identifying you travels with it. We also run a proxy server that fetches show data; all it sees is the question asked — never you.
What data we hold
None. Everything the app creates stays in your phone's own storage: your follow list, episode marks, taste profile, the streaming services you subscribe to, and which news items you have read. Deleting the app deletes all of it — we cannot restore it, because we never had a copy. If you want to move your data, the in-app backup section exports it as a plain text file to a destination you choose.
No accounts, no email address, no advertising identifier, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no third-party tracking SDKs.
Where the app connects
For show information, posters and award data the app sends requests to the services below. These requests carry nothing that identifies you — only the show you searched for or the list to be displayed. As with any internet request, each service sees the IP address the request arrives from.
| Service | Used for |
|---|---|
| Jenerik proxy api.jenerik.app |
Show details, scores, season and episode dates. This server forwards the question to TMDB |
| TMDB image.tmdb.org |
Poster and backdrop images |
| Wikidata query.wikidata.org |

| TypeSafe Jev api.typesafe.ai |
Interpreting the sentence you type into the "AI search" box. The proxy forwards the sentence to this service; the phone never connects to it directly. If the proxy's configured address has been changed, openrouter.ai may take its place |
Why the proxy exists. The app needs a key to reach TMDB, and that key must not ship inside the phone app — once it does, anyone who opens the app package can read it. So the key lives on the proxy instead: the phone asks the proxy, the proxy asks TMDB. The proxy sees only the question itself: which show you searched for, or which list to return. It carries nothing identifying you, and since there are no accounts there is nothing to carry. The server's code does not write the questions anywhere; the only thing it stores is the answer itself, kept briefly so that the same question arriving again does not trouble TMDB twice. Vercel, which hosts the server, keeps request paths and IP addresses in its own operational logs for a short period, as every internet server does; we do not read those logs and we do not build profiles from them.
The sentence you type into "AI search" does leave your phone. It is the only text that leaves the device and is shown to a model. The sentence goes to our proxy and from there to the decision model TypeSafe Jev, which turns what you asked for (genre, year, score, tone, things to avoid) into a typed answer; the app then searches according to that answer. No identity, account or device number is attached to the sentence — and since there are no accounts, there is nothing to attach. The model's answer is held briefly on the phone, so typing the same sentence again sends no second request.
Alongside the sentence, where one exists, a numeric summary of your taste is sent: how many times you asked for something else in a given genre, and how many times you responded positively. Which shows those were is not sent — show identifiers are deliberately left out, because the model decides on genre and tone and has no need to see your list.
When search results are ranked, the TMDB summaries of the shows found are also shown to the same model, to answer "does this summary actually describe what was asked for". These are TMDB's public texts, not your data.
Beyond this, no text you write leaves the device on any screen. Your list, watch history, episode marks and hidden shows stay on the phone; they are not sent to us or to any other service.
When the proxy's model setting is switched off, the sentence goes nowhere and the app interprets it with an on-device dictionary; the "AI search" tab works either way, the results are simply coarser.
Tapping the discussion links on a show's detail screen opens your phone's browser at Reddit or Ekşi Sözlük. What happens after that is governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
Notifications
New-episode reminders are scheduled locally on the device. Push notifications are not used, no notification token is generated or sent to us, and we therefore have no way of knowing which shows you are reminded about. The rest of the app works even if you decline the notification permission.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not ask for age, because it collects no personal data at all.
Your rights
Rights of access, correction and erasure under GDPR and Turkey's KVKK apply to data a provider holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to act on. Erasing your data means uninstalling the app; exporting it means using the in-app backup section. Both are entirely in your hands and need no request to us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date on this page is updated. No change that would require us to start collecting data will be made without saying so plainly inside the app.
